Throwback to a moment of peace and relaxation at my retreat earlier this year.
Are you taking the time to rest and relax? I used to think that I had to be “useful” and “productive” all the time.
I was in a self-inflicted state of constant running, and I kept moving the finish line.
So I was never satisfied, and it felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere, no matter how far I went.
This, as I later came to realize, was partly due to a low sense of self-worth and a belief that I had to prove myself; that I had to earn the status of “worthy”.
I’ve done a great deal of inner work over the past few years, letting go of beliefs that were no longer serving me and changing my perception of myself and how I choose to spend my time
I have slowed down and enjoyed life more. This is what I now believe:
Resting is “productive” too!
I don’t have to be productive all the time. (I don’t “have” to anything at all. Doing things...
We’re never too old for some bubble-blowing fun! Do you agree?
And bubbles can be more than a fun activity.
I use them in my retreats and workshops as a wonderful personal and professional development tool! (In fact a few years ago I took a bunch of them all the way to the University for Peace in Costa Rica where they were a huge hit among the participants of my workshop. I had taken it for granted, but apparently we make amazing bubbles here in Egypt )!
Here are 2 powerful “bubbly” exercises that you might like to give a go:
1. As you blow the bubbles, think of all the things about yourself that you want to let go of, that you feel are no longer serving you; the things that are not aligned with the new life you want for yourself. Watch those things fly away and disappear forever!
2. As you blow the bubbles, think of your intentions, aspirations, dreams or goals and put them out into the universe to start that momentum of inspired action that...

When I travel, I love to eat!
(Well, I love to eat anyway, because YUM , but when I travel I tend to celebrate eating more, hence all these pics )
Yes, I’m one of those people who takes pics of her food (especially when it’s so aesthetically pleasing and especially when I'm having it at beautiful places) and I ask my husband to wait until I do (he hasn’t complained yet).
Although I didn’t travel much this summer, my husband and I did manage a short trip to Turkey and I did manage to eat! Here are some of our favorite meals.
I'm very big on peace and quiet, and thankfully so is my husband. So when we travelled to Turkey for a few days of work this summer, we made it a point to end our trip with 24 hours at the simple and beautiful Tranquilla River Lodge @tranquillariverlodge . This place certainly lives up to it's name. I'll say no more, the pictures will tell it all!
Here are a couple of pics and check out my instagram posts below for more!
I'm soooooo excited to announce that I’m officially starting writing my first book!
To launch the process, take it seriously, minimize interruptions and maximize creativity, I’ve arranged a full day writing retreat for myself at this beautiful spot.
My plan is to do this once a week! (The rest of the week I’m pretty much at home, so this is a lovely and productive change!)
What's my book about? Happiness of course!
Happiness is so underrated!
It’s something that we want and that we wish upon others (you often hear us say Happy birthday, Happy anniversary, Happy new year etc) yet we seldom talk about happiness, think about it or align our actions to it.
Many of us are unclear on what happiness is (and what it isn’t) and what it means to US specifically.
Thankfully, in recent years, happiness has been taken more seriously by various governments, researchers, entities and individuals. And I’m one of those individuals.
Making happiness a priority has...
Imagine that the life you want is right behind this door and all you have to do is know what you want and open the door to reach it! What would you do?
Would you sit back and look at the door and do nothing, or would you go open it?
If you aren’t able to open it (maybe it’s temporarily locked) would you knock on the door to find out what it’s going to take to get to the other side?
If that doesn’t work, would you knock again and again? Or would you give up?
The happiest and most successful people get clear on what they want and then they go after it!
And they keep going after it, making sure to enjoy the journey along the way.
They knock on as many doors as it takes, knowing that not all doors will open up for them and that’s ok. The right doors will.
They reach out to others and collaborate.
They share their story and their message, and they use their voice to make it loud and clear.
They don’t just sit back and wait for doors to open, they make...

Today is March 20th, the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS!
Today and everyday I invite you to choose happiness.
I invite you to focus on what happiness means to YOU and to align your thoughts and actions to your unique vision of happiness, knowing that you deserve it and can achieve it!
This past week, after 4 challenging months for my family, I dedicated a week for self-care and rejuvenation. I had listened to my body and recognized that it was time to heal.
And so I went on a detox retreat where I had a much-needed change AND pushed my limits.
I had juice shots, smoothies and soups, exercised more than I have in the past 30 years, connected with wonderful people, learned even more about health and nutrition (and myself), enjoyed sunsets, nature and amazing weather, listened to live music at the beach, went hiking and mountain climbing and even did yoga in a cave!
I’m now back, full of gratitude, strength and energy and happy to be back to my wonderful home and family.
Me with a giant pestle and mortar, just because why not?
I’m not the kind of person who would see this and walk past it. Naturally I stopped to play for a bit.
As often as I can, I seize opportunities to goof off, experience new things and even be “silly”.
Who wants to be serious all the time, right?
Do you weave play into your day? How?
On a different note, if you were to completely CRUSH ONE LIMITING BELIEF in this giant pestle and mortar, which would it be??
Are you aware of your limiting beliefs? For the longest time, I wasn’t (until I was ).
Here’s one of my old beliefs:
I used to believe that I wasn’t good enough; that I had to prove myself through hard work and impressive accomplishments. This caused me to put constant pressure on myself to perform and often left me dissatisfied with the results.
I certainly crushed THAT belief! Now I have nothing to prove, I believe I am good enough exactly as I am, I allow myself to simply BE, and I feel...
